Did the Government, or the airlines have prior knowledge on Sept 10th 2001,

or early on Sept 11th before the first plane was reported hijacked ?

In the wake of finding out about 2 of the 911 planes not being scheduled for Sept 11th ( flight 11 and 77) I did a little backtracking on some flights and airports from the BTS gov website. I found that at several airports there were very long delays for some planes. Below are just some of the results which i graphed. Keep in mind, these are averages of many planes. So in reality what happened was that there were VERY long delays for a few planes which threw these graphs off the charts. Some delays can be expected, but taking an average, puts this into perspective.

Fire Temporarily Closes Newark Airport


NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Officials shut down flights at Newark International
Airport for 35 minutes Monday because of a fire at a construction site.

The fire was at the new administration building, which is several miles
from the main terminals. No injuries were immediately reported.

Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New
Jersey, said flights were halted because airport firefighting equipment
was used to put out the blaze.

Major delays were not expected because the fire happened at about 1 p.m.
and midday schedules are generally light, Coleman said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Departure Delays
At JFK 5 of 19 planes had taxi out times of over 100 minutes, 3 of those were over 200 and 4 departure delays over 100 mins, one of which ws 358 mins for UA and 0 for Sept 3rd.
On the same day one week prior, there were 0 delays of 21 planes over 100 mins, the longest delay was 57 mins.

Just as a curiosity, I checked North West it had 3 taxi out delays out of 5 flights from JFK on the 10th over 100 mins

I thought that maybe I had not gone back far enough with the BTS data, and that it may have been a coincidence,
so I did a 22 day histoy ending on September 10th.
The fact is, there were less delays and a more even distribution the farther I went back.
Note here, the numbers are for the days of data (21) not the days of the month. This data's end point is Sept 10th.

Below are the result for Newark and Laguardia

On Sept 10th at La Guardia (LGA) 12 out of 59 planes had a taxi-out time of over 100 minuites. I decided to see how many had that amount onw week earlier, the same day of the week. There was 1 for AA
8 out of 29 flights for UA out of La Guardia (LGA) on Sept 10th had taxi out times of over 100 minutes, with 0 for Sept 3rd one week earlier.

Tail # N334AA arrived in SOF at 20:43 W-On-T on the 10th it left as flight 198 to BOS at 22:04 W-Off-T it had a scheduled elaspse time of 334 mins. It had a scheduled arrive time of 6:24, but does not show a wheel on time, arrival time or tail #.

8 planes (of 55) were shown to have arrived before the 911 events started. none show to actually arrive ( no arrival time, wheel on time or tail number)

N612UA departs from SFO to BOS Logan 13:44 W-off-time, gets to Logan at 21:50 W-on-Time. Does not show departing on the 10th . scheduled elapsed time 333 mins /60=5.55hrs2 hours missing ?

13:44 to 21:50 = 7 hours and 6 mins

N591UA leaves ( on the 10th) Logan for ORD at 7:30 gets to Chicago (ORD) at 8:39 wheel on time. Leaves Chicago as flight 642 at 10:43 for Newark, it shows a flight number and tail number, but no wheel on time or arrival time. It shows N591UA as flight 75 to SFO departing wheel off time at 19:40

( a 240 min departure delay and 70 min taxi out time) It arrives in San Fran at 22:07 wheel on time.

Then depart SFO ( as flight 78) at 23:15 wheel off time.

Flight 78 shows scheduled to arrive at 6:22, but shows no arrival, or wheel on time.

3 planes were scheduled to arrive before the 911 events, but the database shows no info of any planes arriving on the morning of september 11th from NWR


As you can see below, tail numbers and arrival times for for flights 74 and 1396 were not available. If these planes landed, then why was this data not recorded? The scheduled arrival times were well before the 911 events started taking place, at that point, it was a normal day.
